The worldwide web is a wonderful place, but as easy as it is to find information, not all that information is true. In an era of beauty gurus, YouTubers, sponsored ads, and more, it can be hard to find the answers you’re looking for.
Myth #1: Vaseline
Our first eyelash growth myth is the belief that spreading Vaseline on your eyelashes and the nearby areas (such as the skin by the root of your lashes) will help them grow faster and healthier.
Vaseline, also known as Petroleum jelly, does not have the ability to seep into your skin or into your hair follicles.
Myth #2: Brushing more often
Obviously, we mean your hair and not your teeth! Our second myth is that brushing your hair in an upward direction will make it look like your hair is fuller, neater, or longer.
The reason this technique doesn’t work is because over-brushing your hair can actually cause it to fall out or get tugged out.
Myth #3: Natural oils
Oils can penetrate your skin pretty deeply, but that doesn’t mean it’s good to use them on your eyes or lashes.
There’s no proven reason to use natural oils to aid eyelash growth. All these oils will do is make you look shinier.
Myth #4: Trimming your lashes
Trimming your lashes will not make them grow any faster, eyelashes don’t work the same way that the hair on the top of our heads does.
Needless to say, putting anything sharp near your eyes should be a big no-no!
