The new year is here, and that means you’ve got a whole new year in which to reinvent your look. In 2020 the beauty scene took a blow thanks to lockdowns worldwide, as of course we wore less make up and stuck to our trusty pyjamas as a day time look. In 2021, what trends are we going to see in beauty? Here are some of the most popular trends happening right now, so read on to be ahead of the curve.
- The Recreation Of The Mullet
Yes, really. In 2021 the mullet is coming back from its 80’s heyday. That doesn’t mean that you have to embrace the 80’s look totally, though. As with most trends, the hairstyle has been changed up just enough to make it new and fresh. For example, you’ll see trend setters wearing a mullet with layers and different lengths, to give it more variety. Plus, these mullets are styled roughly, rather than with a sleek and straight look.
2. At Home Treatments
You haven’t been able to get to the salon to get your nails done or your hair colour topped up recently, and it’s not clear when it’ll be safe to do so next. Because of this, it’s no surprise that more and more people have been turning to at home treatments.
These can be anything from eyebrow waxing to nail treatments and hair cuts, and people are becoming much more adept at completing treatments themselves. As lockdowns continue and you wait for the world to become safer, it’s certainly a lot easier to continue your own beauty treatments at home. The trend shows no sign of stopping, and could continue all the way into next year.
3. Focus On Skincare
As you’ve been at home it’s been easy to pay closer attention to your skin. Because of this, there’s been a real focus on skin care that has continued into this year. Of course, that means that products like cleansers and moisturisers are seeing a boost in sales, as customers experiment to see what’s right for them. That’s not all there is in skin care, though.
There are other options, such as supplements that help your skin from the inside, or treatments that focus on the skin. If you’re interested in improving your skin’s health, it’s certainly something to look into.
4. More Minimal Makeup Looks
On the subject of skin, you certainly have been wearing less make up recently as you’ve been staying home. After all, why take the time to apply it if you’re not seeing anyone? Because of this, much more relaxed make up looks have been becoming more popular. These are where eyelash extensions become really popular as it will require less make up around the eyes.
If you want to be on trend in 2021, then you’ll want to scale back your regular make up look. It’s less about dramatic looks and more about simplicity, letting your true beauty shine through
5. Facial Surgeries And Treatments
the one thing you didn’t think you’d have to deal with in 2020 was constant video calls. That webcam is highly unflattering, and suddenly you’re wondering ‘Did I always look like that?’
Because of this, there’s been an up tick of people looking into facial treatments and even surgeries. For example, many are choosing Botox to smooth out their skin, or skin tightening treatments. This is especially true for the lower parts of the face.
6. Time Saving Products
When it comes to beauty products, multi step regimes have been in fashion for the last few years. That’s especially true if you’re into Korean skin care, which often requires a multitude of steps to get the most out of it. While you have had time in the last year to dedicate to it, it seems that attitudes have shifted in the opposite direction.
Now, there’s more of a demand for all in one products that give you the same effect without taking up all of your time. This doesn’t mean that you have to go for the 2 in 1 shampoo, but you will see more products coming out this year that don’t take up nearly as much time.
These are just a few of the trends that you should be watching out for in the near future. Is there anything here that you’re excited to try in 2021?
